The Commons
Welcome to the web
site of the Dent County Commons at Salem, Missouri. The Commons
is a 79 acre facility located approximately one mile North-West of the
City of Salem on Highway 72. The commons offers a Youth Building,
a Livestock Barn, a Recreational Vehicle Park, an Arena and many other
amenities. Many
events and activities are planned for 2010, but we do still have a
great deal of open dates for the Commons to be utilized.
We hope that you will take a few minutes to
look around the site, even though it is not yet entirely
completed. In the coming days and weeks, much more information
will be added to this web site; please Add to Favorites/Bookmark this
site and check bask in the near future. If you would like to be
kept apprised of events at the Commons, please sign
up
for
our
newsletter. We will do our best to publish the first few
days of each month to announce all of the confirmed public events
scheduled for that month.
All proceeds from this first Market Day will
go towards the repair and maintenance of the Commons' Youth
Building. The Commons Project Committee will also be selling food
and drinks, these profits will also go towards the preservation of the
Youth Building. We sincerely hope that you will join us the
morning of April 3rd. Gates will open at 6:00 AM. Food and
drinks are
available at the concession stand beginning at about 7:00 AM. Coffee by donation!
Also each Market Day there will be an ATV Points
Rodeo held at the Commons!Events will include
Barrels, Poles, Single Barrel, Keyhole PLUS Double Elimination Drag
Races. The Mud Pit Gates open at Noon and the Races Begin at 3:00
PM. The gate fee is
only $3.00 per person, concessions are provided by the Commons at very
reasonable prices. This is
a great opportunity for a day of family fun - bring the kids, if they
are under 10 years old, they get in Free!
On Saturday, 10 April, the Commons Project
Committee will host a Meat Shoot
(Turkey
Shoot)at the Commons.
The purpose of the event is to raise additional funds for the Commons
operating costs. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:00
PM. Limited concessions will be available for purchase at the
shooting area.

On Saturday, 17
April, there will be ATV Double
Elimination Drag Races held at the Commons. The Mud Pit Gates
open at Noon and the Races Begin at 3:00 PM. The gate fee is only

reasonable prices. This is a great opportunity for a very
inexpensive day of family fun!
